Art Deco jewellery, prominent from the 1920s to the 1930s, is characterised by geometric symmetry, stylised natural motifs, and vibrant enamelling techniques set within sterling silver or white metals.

These pieces typically utilised sterling silver as a base, decorated with vitreous enameloften in translucent guilloche or opaque finishesto create rich coloured surfaces representing flora and fauna.

Authenticity is determined by examining metal hallmarks, the weight and patina of the sterling silver, hand-applied enamel work showing fine ageing or crazing under magnification, and period-correct clasp mechanisms.

Vintage brooches can be pinned to lapels, silk scarves, berets, or structured coat collars to add a focal point of historical craftsmanship and colour to contemporary attire.

Enamel and silver pieces should be stored away from direct sunlight and moisture, cleaned gently with a soft dry microfibre cloth, and kept separate from other items to prevent scratching the fragile glass surface.
