We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian silver cream jugs often feature ornate surface decorations, including hand engraving, repousse scrollwork, foliage, and blank cartouches for monograms. Common silhouette elements include pedestal bases, high loop handles, and beaded or gadrooned borders around the rim.

These items were predominantly wrought from sterling silver, containing 92.5% pure silver alloyed with copper for durability. Craftsmen utilised silversmithing techniques such as raised smithing, casting for handles, and hand-chasing or engraving for intricate surface detailing.

Authentic British silver bears a set of official hallmarks stamped by an assay office, such as London or Birmingham. These marks typically include the makers mark, the lion passant indicating sterling purity, a date letter specifying the exact year of manufacture, and a town mark.

A silver cream jug can be placed on a sideboard top, curated tray, or dining table alongside ceramics and glassware. It can function as part of a formal tea service or as an independent accent piece holding small floral arrangements.

Clean sterling silver regularly with a specialized silver polishing cloth or mild silver foam using warm water. Avoid abrasive polishes, dishwasher cleaning, and exposure to sulphur compounds, storing the piece in a dry environment to minimise oxidisation.
