Georgian Revival Solid Silver Sugar Caster by the Barker Brothers, Birmingham 1938

Description

This very elegant George VI silver vase-shaped sugar caster is dated Birmingham 1938 and bears the marks of the Barker Brothers. Modelled on early George II casters (circa 1730) the baluster body with a detachable pierced cover. The cover with baluster finial and alternating vertical bands of decorative piercing. Raised on a circular pedestal base.

Hallmarks:

Fully marked on the body.

Partial marks on the inner lid.

BB S LD for the Barker Brothers.

Birmingham Assay Mark.

Lion Passant.

Date letter "O" for 1938.

Dimensions:

Height: 17cm / 6.3 inches.

Diameter: 6cm / 2.2 inches.

Weight: 93 g / 3.2 oz.

Condition:
