A Prussian decanter is a specific style of glass bottle characterised by a wide, heavy base and a tapering neck fitted with three distinct neck rings, popular during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

These pieces were typically mouth-blown from lead glass or potash-lime glass, often featuring hand-formed neck rings and ground glass stoppers.

Authenticity is indicated by pontil marks on the base, surface wear such as light scratches or base abrasion, microscopic air bubbles trapped within the metal of the glass, and hand-ground stoppers tailored to individual necks.

It can be displayed on a sideboard, bar cart, or open shelving to catch the light, either as a standalone sculptural object or utilised for serving spirits.

Antique glass should be hand washed cautiously using lukewarm water and mild detergent; harsh abrasives, ultrasonic cleaners, and sudden temperature changes must be avoided to prevent thermal shock or scratching.
