A large and highly decorative pair of antique German porcelain figural candlesticks, produced in Thuringia in the late 19th century and attributed to the Sitzendorf manufactory. Each candlestick is formed as a tall tree-trunk column, enriched with applied flowers and foliage that rise and wrap the surface in a sculptural, naturalistic manner.The figures depict a young girl holding a small goat and a boy holding a dog. The modelling shows soft facial features, gentle expressions and rounded forms characteristic of quality Sitzendorf production, with a pleasing balance between figural detail and architectural height. The impressive scale gives the pair strong visual presence when displayed.On one base there is a weakly visible underglaze Sitzendorf mark. The underside of each piece bears an impressed model number “216”, accompanied by small green technological marks.
