A rummer is a heavy-duty, large drinking glass that became popular in Britain during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, typically used for serving ales, wines, and punches.

Georgian glassware was predominantly crafted from lead glass, often manipulated through free-blowing, mould-blowing, and subsequent cutting or engraving techniques to achieve rich optical effects.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the base, characteristic weight due to high lead content, and subtle irregularities or inclusions within the glass matrix indicative of manual production.

Coloured glassware adds depth and a focal point when displayed on open shelving, within glazed cabinets, or styled as decorative accents on mantels and sideboards.

Antique glass should be hand-washed gently in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and harsh abrasives to protect the delicate surface.
