Historical Relevance
In the spring and summer of 1715 a series of riots occurred in England, protesting against the first Hanoverian king, George I and his new Whig government. The rioters often attacked Dissenting chapels (the Dissenters were allied to the Whigs) and tended to occur on symbolic days such as George I's birthday on the 28th May and the anniversary of Charles II's Restoration on the 29th May.
