During the Victorian era, celery was considered a high-status delicacy, often served upright in specialised tall glass or ceramic vessels as a centrepiece during formal dinners.

These pieces were typically crafted from lead crystal or pressed lime glass, often shaped using traditional mould-blowing and hand-cutting techniques common in nineteenth-century glassworks.

Authentic pieces frequently exhibit characteristic pontil marks on the base, minor surface wear consistent with age, and distinct variations in glass clarity and weight typical of historical manufacturing methods.

This type of vessel can be utilised as a standalone decorative object on a shelf, or repurposed to hold fresh floral stems on a dining table or sideboard.

Items should be washed gently by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding harsh abrasives, rapid temperature changes, and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
