A Victorian silver mounted scent bottle is a small container used for holding liquid perfume, featuring a glass body paired with a hallmarked sterling silver collar and cap, produced during the reign of Queen Victoria.

These pieces typically combine blown or moulded art glass bodiessuch as spatter glass or cased glasswith worked sterling silver mounts that were shaped, embossed, or chased by silversmiths.

Authenticity is determined by examining the hallmarks on the silver mount, which indicate the makers mark, assay office, and date letter, alongside period-appropriate glass characteristics and wear patterns.

An antique scent bottle can be displayed on a dressing table tray, a bathroom counter, or a mantelpiece, adding a touch of period craftsmanship and colour to a contemporary space.

Preservation requires cleaning the glass with a soft, damp cloth and carefully polishing the silver mount with a non-abrasive silver cloth, avoiding direct contact between polish and the glass surface.
