FAQs

Imari porcelain is a type of Japanese export porcelain produced in the town of Arita and shipped from the port of Imari, gaining prominence in Europe during the late 17th and 18th centuries.

Traditional Imari pieces are characterised by an underglaze cobalt blue and an overglaze iron red, frequently highlighted with gilt details against a white porcelain body.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit a slightly gritty or uneven paste on the unglazed base, hand-painted motifs with subtle colour variations, and iron-spurring marks from the kiln.

These lamps serve as striking focal points on sideboards or side tables, pairing well with neutral backdrops and minimalist lampshades to highlight the intricate craftsmanship.

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth and avoid chemical cleaners or excessive moisture, particularly around gilt areas and old electrical fittings.
