Victorian scent bottles often feature elaborate craftsmanship, combining decorative glass techniques such as latticino or cranberry glass with hallmarked sterling silver caps, reflecting the periods focus on personal vanity and intricate accessories.

These items were typically crafted using hand-blown or moulded art glass, often incorporating techniques like latticino with opaque white or coloured glass threads, and fitted with repousse or chased sterling silver screw caps or hinged lids.

Authentic pieces usually exhibit makers marks or silver hallmarks indicating the assay office, date letter, and sterling standard, alongside hand-finished glass characteristics such as pontil scars and minor irregularities typical of nineteenth-century production.

They can be displayed on mirrored trays, dressing tables, or open bathroom shelving to introduce a touch of historical texture, vibrant colour, and metallic reflection into contemporary living spaces.

Preserve the items by dusting gently with a soft microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners on the glass, and using a specialized non-abrasive silver polish carefully to avoid contact with the fragile glass body.
