A Georgian corner cupboard is a storage unit designed specifically to fit into the corner of a room, produced during the reigns of Kings George I to IV, featuring classic proportions and architectural details.

These cupboards were predominantly crafted from solid timber veneers like mahogany, oak, or pine for internal carcases, frequently accented with brass H-hinges and keyhole escutcheons.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, secondary woods consistent with the era, aged brass hardware, and natural timber patination from age.

Such pieces can be integrated by contrasting their dark wood tones against neutral painted walls, using them to display ceramics or glassware while anchoring transitional or traditional room layouts.

Maintain antique mahogany by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, applying periodic applications of traditional beeswax, and avoiding silicone-based polishes.
