This pair of brass candelabra dates from the Arts and Crafts period around 1900. Each piece holds five lights and displays a gold colour with a polished metallic finish. The construction incorporates a twisted stem, an openwork scroll framing structure, scalloped drip pans under each candle holder, and a circular stepped base. Visible details include spiral fluting on the central columns, delicate wire scrollwork supports between the branches, and petal-shaped sconce drip trays. The items stand 49 cm high and measure 31 cm wide. Placement suits a sideboard top or a dining table in an English Country House setting to provide traditional ambient illumination. The metallic construction reflects light across interior surfaces, while the tiered branching arrangement creates a symmetrical silhouette. Maintenance requires standard brass polishing to preserve the bright gold surface.

The Arts and Crafts movement emphasised honest craftsmanship, hand-wrought metalwork, and functional design, often featuring organic scrollwork, geometric framing, and twisted stems.

Traditional brass candelabra were constructed using cast or spun brass components, often assembled with central threaded rods, brazing, or hand-riveted joints to create multi-arm structures.

Authentic period pieces often display subtle hand-tooling marks, original jointing methods, natural oxidisation in unpolished areas, and occasional makers marks or registration stamps.

Positioning the pair symmetrically on a dining table, mantelpiece, or sideboard introduces warm metallic contrast and architectural height to contemporary minimalist or traditional rooms.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and remove residual wax using warm water, avoiding abrasive cleaners that could strip natural patina or protective lacquer.
