Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A toddy lifter is a hollow glass tool created in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries to extract punch or spirits from a bowl or decanter. The user submerged the main chamber into the liquid, placed a thumb over the hole at the top of the neck to create a vacuum, and lifted the liquid to dispense into individual glasses.

These items were predominantly mouth-blown from lead crystal or flint glass. Craftsmen added decorative rings around the neck for grip and hand-cut facets or fluting around the lower chamber before grinding the top and bottom openings.

Authentic Georgian pieces typically exhibit signs of hand-crafting, such as minor asymmetry, hand-cut glass facets, wear patterns on the base rim, and small air bubbles or striations within the thick lead glass.

An antique toddy lifter can be displayed inside a glass cabinet, arranged alongside period decanters on a bar cart, or mounted in a shadow box to display historical glassware design.

Clean the glassware by hand using lukewarm water and mild dish soap, avoiding extreme temperature changes that cause thermal shock. Dry thoroughly with a soft microfibre cloth and store upright in a secure cabinet away from direct heat.
