Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian large cupboard dates from circa 1900 and is made from teak with a warm brown colour. The piece takes the form of a tall storage unit featuring a moulded cornice at the top, three sliding doors decorated with grid panelling, and a stepped plinth base at the bottom. The interior provides extensive vertical space behind the three sliding doors, measuring 218 cm high, 184.7 cm wide, and 39.5 cm deep overall. In a home today, this large shelved cupboard functions practically as a substantial storage solution in a library, study, or living room for books, linens, or household items. The warm brown teak timber brings a traditional finish to an interior setting, while the sliding doors offer a space-saving alternative to traditional hinged doors.

FAQs

Turn-of-the-century teak cupboards from around 1900 feature structured panelled doors, straight lines, and durable joinery influenced by colonial utility and Arts and Crafts design movements.

Furniture from this era typically features hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, geometric panel construction, and solid teak timbers valued for natural oils and durability.

Authentic pieces exhibit evidence of traditional cabinetmaking, including hand-finished panel tracks, period-appropriate timber shrinkage or oxidisation, and natural age-related patina on the wood finish.

A large teak cupboard functions as a central storage solution in bedrooms, hallways, or dining rooms, providing functional capacity while adding rich timber tones to neutral modern decor.

Maintain teak furniture by dusting regularly with a dry lint-free cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish periodically to nourish the timber, avoiding synthetic chemical sprays and direct heat sources.
