Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often combined lighter, more delicate proportions with inspirations from earlier Georgian and Sheraton revivals, favouring rich timbers like rosewood and mahogany.

Cabinetmakers of this era frequently utilised dense tropical hardwoods such as rosewood and mahogany, often enhanced with intricate marquetry, boxwood stringing, brass fittings, and turned wooden supports.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-appropriate construction methods, such as hand-cut dovetail joints on shelving supports, traditional timber shrinkage patterns, natural oxidisation of the wood, and historical hardware like brass castors.

These pieces add warmth and historical texture to modern rooms; pair them with neutral walls and balance the shelving arrangement with a thoughtful mix of vertical books, framed art, and decorative objects.

Maintain antique rosewood by keeping it out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, and applying occasional professional-grade beeswax to nourish the timber.
