Regency style furniture spans the early 19th century, typically associated with the British Regency period. It draws heavily from classical Greco-Roman designs, incorporating refined symmetry, exotic wood veneers, and classical brass ornamentation.

Cabinetmakers during this era frequently utilised dense tropical hardwoods such as mahogany and rosewood. Accents were often added using brass inlays, ormolu mounts, fine stringing, and occasionally imported Italian marble tops.

Authentication relies on examining timber patination, hand-cut dovetail joints in drawers, hand-blown or wired glass in doors, and the quality of brass cast hardware. Construction methods should match period-appropriate hand tools and joinery techniques.

An antique mahogany cabinet can ground a modern space by adding rich textual warmth and historical contrast. Pair it with minimalist decor, neutral walls, and contemporary lighting to let the fine wood grain and brass details stand out.

Maintain stable indoor humidity and keep the piece out of direct sunlight to prevent wood splitting and fading. Clean occasionally with a soft dry cloth and apply high-quality beeswax sparingly to nourish the wood finish.
