Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency period side cabinet from around 1810 incorporates a two-door cupboard base surmounted by a tiered open shelving superstructure. Slender turned column supports uphold the upper shelves, while flame mahogany panels decorate the cabinet doors, complemented by a central brass astragal and a matching hanging key. Constructed from warm brown mahogany with brass fittings, the piece stands at 141 cm high, 77 cm wide, and 35 cm deep. Position this side cabinet in a traditional living room, dining room, or hallway to provide functional storage and display surfaces. The compact depth allows placement in narrower circulation spaces or against a living area wall for books, decorative objects, or tableware.

FAQs

Originating in the early 19th century, a Regency chiffonier is a compact sideboard or cabinet featuring lower enclosed cupboards topped with open tiered shelving, designed primarily for displaying porcelain or storing household linens.

Cabinetmakers during the Regency era favoured fine timbers such as flame mahogany and rosewood, often detailed with brass astragals, turned column supports, and hand-dovetailed pine or oak drawer linings.

Authentic Regency pieces feature hand-cut joinery, original brass hardware, natural shrinkage marks across solid timber panels, and rich flame veneers displaying age-appropriate patination.

A Regency chiffonier functions well in a dining room, hallway, or living space, where the upper shelves can showcase contemporary ceramics or glassware to contrast against the dark timber.

Maintain mahogany by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, keeping the cabinet away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight.
