A rummer is a heavy drinking glass that emerged in Britain during the late eighteenth century and remained popular through the Georgian and Victorian eras, primarily used for consuming ale, wine, or punch.

These vessels were typically hand-blown from heavy lead glass, often featuring a distinctive bucket or flared bowl shape set upon a short stem and a circular foot.

Authentic pieces often exhibit characteristic pontil marks on the base, minor surface wear consistent with age, and the deep refractive qualities and heft typical of early English lead glass.

They can be displayed inside glazed cabinets as part of a historical collection, used on a bar cart, or repurposed to hold small botanical stems on a mantelpiece.

Antique glass should be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and abrasive sponges to protect the historic surface.
