FAQs

Florentine gilt furniture originates from Florence, Italy, where artisans have practiced traditional wood-carving and gold-leaf gilding techniques for centuries, often drawing inspiration from Renaissance and Baroque designs.

These pieces are typically constructed from solid wood or composite substrates, hand-gilded with gold leaf or metallic paint, and finished with intricate painted motifs and gesso detailing.

Authentic pieces often exhibit hand-applied gesso, visible brushwork or tool marks, authentic wear to the metallic leaf, and traditional joinery appropriate to their estimated mid-20th-century or earlier manufacture date.

They can be used as contrasting bedside tables in a minimalist bedroom to add texture and metallic warmth, or paired with contemporary lighting to balance traditional ornamentation with modern lines.

Gilded and painted wood surfaces should be dusted gently with a dry, soft microfiber cloth and kept away from direct sunlight, excess moisture, and chemical cleaning agents to protect the delicate finish.
