Scottish pebble jewellery gained immense popularity during the Victorian era, largely due to Queen Victorias fondness for Balmoral Castle and the Scottish Highlands, inspiring a romantic revival of traditional Celtic designs.

These pieces typically feature locally sourced Scottish stones such as freshwater pearls, agates, jaspers, and cairngorms, set into intricately engraved silver mounts styled after traditional Highland weaponry and Celtic motifs.

Authentic pieces often display high-craftsmanship metal engraving, bezel-set natural hardstones with characteristic banding, traditional c-clasps or tubular hinge pins, and occasionally silver hallmarks corresponding to Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Chester assay offices.

An antique brooch can be worn fastened to the lapel of a tailored blazer, pinning a chunky knit scarf, or accenting the collar of a structured coat to add historical texture and a focal point of colour.

Store antique jewellery in a dry, tarnish-resistant pouch away from direct sunlight, and clean the silver gently with a soft microfibre cloth while avoiding harsh liquid chemical dips that can damage organic hardstones.
