We are confident that this is a B&S example and not an English or Bohemian example.
This gives us a valuable opportunity to compare the overshot glass 'styles' used in England, Bohemia and the USA. This particular style is very distinctive in the collection and the exact style can be seen on an overshot champagne jug housed at the Brooklyn Museum.

Overshot or Ice glass as it was known in the Victorian era was made in many different locations, including England, Europe and the USA where Boston & Sandwich made some outstanding decorative and functional pieces. It is created by rolling the hot glass in tiny pieces of broken glass and then reheated to remove the sharp edges producing a very rustic look and feel.
