FAQs

Eighteenth-century brass candlesticks typically feature multi-component construction, stepped or square bases, and turned stems that reflect the classical design proportions of the Georgian era.

These items were generally produced using copper and zinc alloys, shaped via sand casting or a combination of turning on a lathe, with individual sections often joined together by brazing or threading.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the casting flaws, tool marks, patination, weight, and method of construction, with older pieces often showing modular assembly and natural wear.

They can be integrated into modern schemes by placing them on mantelpieces, dining tables, or sideboards to introduce metallic warmth and historic contrast.

Preservation involves dusting with a soft, dry cloth and avoiding harsh chemical polishes that can strip away the historical patina accumulated over centuries.
