FAQs

Celery vases were popular dining table vessels in the nineteenth century, specifically designed to display upright stalks of celery in salted water during formal meals.

These items were typically crafted from lead crystal or flint glass, often utilizing a combination of mould-pressing, wheel-cutting, and hand-etching techniques.

Authentic period pieces often feature pontil marks on the base, minor surface wear consistent with age, heavy lead content, and hand-finished detailing rather than modern machine moulding seams.

This piece works well as a decorative floral holder or standalone display object on a mantelpiece, sideboard, or open shelving unit to add historic texture.

Wash the item gently by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding harsh scrubbing, abrasive materials, or dishwashers to protect the delicate etched surface.
