The World is Made of Glass Ltd. has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.
The glass has a scarce ogee-shaped bowl with an everted rim measuring 6.3 cm (2.5 inches) in diameter. The bowl is plain and sits on a double series opaque twist stem consisting of two white enamel tapes wound around a central twist of two white enamel cords. The stem, which has a medial angular knop, ends in a conical foot which measures 7.5 cm (3 inches) in diameter. The glass is 16.5 cm (6.6 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There is a small (3 mm long) scratch to the outside surface of the bowl and some unburst bubbles in the metal of the foot which date from manufacture.
Lead glass weighing in at 170 g. (~ 6 oz.).
