Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Antique Chinese porcelain lamps often utilise repurposed ginger jars, vases, or vessel bodies crafted during the Qing dynasty or later periods, which were subsequently fitted for electrical wiring during the late 19th or early 20th century for Western export and domestic markets.

These pieces are traditionally constructed from high-fired ceramic or porcelain, featuring hand-painted enamel decoration often accented with gilt or metallic detailing, mounted upon carved wooden bases and fitted with silk or fabric shades.

Authenticity is determined by examining the patination of the porcelain, the quality of the hand-painted brushwork, the presence of reign marks or makers stamps, and the construction methods of the internal wiring and structural mounts.

They can be utilised as statement lighting on sideboards, consoles, or bedside tables, introducing colour, texture, and global heritage to eclectic, transitional, or traditional interior schemes.

Preserve the items by dusting the porcelain and shades gently with a soft, dry cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners that may damage the hand-painted glazes or gilt accents, and ensuring electrical components are periodically tested by a professional.
