Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Around 1900, during the Art Nouveau period, French glassmakers produced perfume and cologne bottles decorated with hand-painted enamel floral motifs and gilt detailing. These pieces featured faceted stoppers and botanical decoration reflecting the nature-inspired aesthetic of the era.

These items were crafted from clear or coloured blown glass, decorated with enamel paint fired onto the surface, and finished with painted gilt accents. Stoppers were individually cut or faceted to fit ground-glass neck openings.

Authentic bottles typically display hand-ground stoppers fitted to the neck, hand-painted enamel details with subtle variations, and slight surface wear to gilded edges consistent with age. Look for ground necks and period-appropriate faceting on the stopper.

A small enamelled glass scent bottle works well placed on a dressing table tray, a bathroom counter, or a bedroom vanity unit. Grouping it alongside vintage silver-topped jars or resting it on a marble tray adds historical detail to personal spaces.

Clean gently using lukewarm water and mild liquid soap, avoiding abrasive sponges or chemicals that could strip the delicate enamel or gilding. Never place decorated antique glass in a dishwasher, and ensure the interior is dry before replacing the stopper.
