Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced during the reign of King William IV (18301837), these stools bridge the Regency and Early Victorian periods. They feature solid mahogany construction, classical motifs such as lyre backs or turned legs, and an integrated height-adjustment mechanism.

Craftsmen predominantly used dense hardwoods such as mahogany or rosewood, combined with hand-cut wooden or iron threaded screws for the swivel mechanism, brass accents for lyre strings, and woven fabric or leather upholstery.

Authentic pieces feature heavy solid timber, hand-carved decorative elements, and hand-threaded central wooden screws. Examination of the underside often reveals original joinery techniques, cast iron brackets, and natural wear on moving parts.

Beyond its original purpose beside a piano, this style of adjustable chair functions as an accent seat in a hallway, a vanity chair at a dressing table, or a compact reading seat in a library nook.

Apply high-grade beeswax polish periodically along the wood grain to protect the finish. The central threaded mechanism should be kept clean and lightly lubricated with dry wax to maintain smooth elevation adjustment without staining the timber.
