Demi-tasse spoons are small spoons specifically designed for serving after-dinner coffee or espresso, with Victorian examples often featuring period-specific regional hallmarks and traditional decorative motifs.

These spoons are traditionally crafted from sterling silver, often shaped using period manufacturing methods such as drop forging or hand-raising before being hand-finished and engraved.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks stamped on the reverse, typically including a makers mark, standard mark, town mark for Scottish assay offices such as Edinburgh or Glasgow, and a date letter corresponding to the Victorian era.

Antique silver spoons can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, framed as wall art, or incorporated into contemporary table settings to add a layer of historic contrast.

Preservation requires regular, gentle dusting with a soft microfibre cloth and occasional cleaning with a specialist silver dip or paste, avoiding abrasive materials that can damage delicate hallmarks.
