Technical Description
An exceptional diamond point engraved 19th century glass Rummer dating to c1847.
It has four versions of the Royal Coat of Arms, engraved in extremely fine diamond point, around the bowl, with the initials MBR and the date 1847.
Also, a poem in diamond point which states,
May those to whom this glass belongs,
Light trials meet if any,
Their hours of gloom, may they be few,
Their sunny memento mori

Memento mori is Latin for ''remember that you have to die''.
It also has what looks like a verse from the bible in very small fine diamond point.
Capstan stem and conical foot which is engraved with Oak leaves and Acorns on the underside.
Comments
We have been told that the engravings were by a gentleman called Thomas Sutherland but Im afraid we can’t tell you anything more about this very talented gentleman.
