A rummer is a large, sturdy drinking glass that became popular in Britain during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, typically used for serving ale, wine, or punch.

These pieces were typically crafted from lead glass, known for its heavy weight and refractive brilliance, and were often hand-blown and wheel-engraved.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the base, minor surface wear consistent with age, minor bubbles in the metal, and hand-cut or engraved detailing characteristic of the period.

Antique glass should be washed gently by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and abrasive sponges to protect the delicate surface.

Displaying antique glassware in open shelving, inside glazed cabinets, or on a sideboard brings historical texture and refined elegance to modern living spaces.
