This is an antique silver chest. An English, oak and bound iron storage trunk, dating to the Georgian period, circa 1800.

During the Georgian period, silver chests were designed to store and transport valuable household silver, plate, and family heirlooms. Constructed from dense hardwoods like oak and reinforced with iron fittings, they provided secure storage both in grand residences and while travelling.
