Victorian cut glass candlesticks are characterised by intricate hand-cut facets, heavy lead content for clarity and weight, and neoclassical or ornate motifs popular during the 19th century.

They were typically crafted from heavy flint glass or lead crystal, which allowed artisans to achieve deep, sharp prismatic cutting and high refractive brilliance.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the base, minor surface wear consistent with age, hand-cut rather than moulded facets, and a heavier feel due to high lead content.

They can be placed on a mantelpiece or dining table to reflect ambient light, pairing the transparent material with modern minimalist ceramics or contrasting dark surfaces for a sophisticated focal point.

Wash them gently by hand in lukewarm water using mild dish soap, avoiding abrasive sponges, harsh chemicals, or sudden temperature changes to protect the delicate crystal surface.
