This late Regency period stool is made from warm brown rosewood timber with a faded finish and stands at 44 cm high, 56.5 cm wide and 52.5 cm deep. The piece takes a curule form with strong X-frame legs joined by a central turned stretcher bar. Atop the wooden base sits a square upholstered cushion covered in hand-embroidered floral needlepoint tapestry featuring a green border. Practical in size, the stool fits easily into contemporary rooms as an occasional seat, a dressing stool, or a footrest placed at the end of a sofa. The sturdy antique construction arrives ready for everyday placement in a living room, bedroom or hallway.

Regency furniture, dating from roughly 1811 to 1830, is characterised by classical Greco-Roman and Egyptian inspirations, utilising fine hardwoods such as rosewood and mahogany with restrained geometric curves and turned elements.

These stools typically feature dense exotic timbers such as rosewood or mahogany, often joined with central turned stretchers for stability and upholstered with hand-worked needlepoint or silk tapestry.

Authentic 19th-century pieces display distinctive dark grain figure with reddish-brown undertones, hand-cut joinery, original wood shrinkage along joints, and hand-carved or turned structural components.

A Regency X-frame stool functions effectively as occasional seating beside a fireplace, beneath a console table, or paired at the end of a sofa to introduce historical contrast.

Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber warping and fabric fading, apply natural beeswax to the rosewood periodically, and vacuum the textile gently using a soft brush attachment.
