Georgian glassware from the late 18th century is characterised by lead metal content, free-blown or mould-blown manufacturing techniques, and functional forms designed for specific drinks such as ale, wine, or cordials.

These pieces were typically crafted from lead crystal or soda glass, shaped using free-blowing and optical moulding techniques such as wrythen fluting, followed by hand-finishing of the stem and foot.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the base, minor surface irregularities, inclusions within the metal, and wear consistent with age, alongside the characteristic weight and ring of period lead glass.

Antique glassware can be displayed within illuminated cabinets, on open shelving with proper support, or styled on sideboards to add texture, historic depth, and reflective quality to a room.

Antique glass should be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, dried immediately with a soft lint-free cloth, and kept away from extreme temperature fluctuations and direct sunlight.
