Georgian glassware, produced during the reigns of Georges I through IV (1714 to 1830), is characterised by heavy lead content, deep tonal clarity, and sophisticated hand-manipulated stems such as air twists, opaque twists, and incised patterns.

These pieces were typically crafted from heavy lead glass, often referred to as flint glass, using free-blowing techniques followed by tool manipulation for stems and folded rims for stability.

Authentic pieces exhibit pontil marks on the underside of the foot, natural surface wear consistent with age, minor air bubbles within the metal, and characteristic weight variations due to high lead oxide content.

Placing such an item on a mantelpiece or sideboard introduces historical texture and transparent reflectivity, allowing it to complement both minimalist and traditional design schemes without visual clutter.

Antique glass should be hand-washed in lukewarm water using mild detergent and dried immediately with a lint-free cloth. Harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and extreme temperature changes must be avoided.
