Description:?This is a fine quality antique Victorian ottoman, with an elegant concave shape and walnut moulding, which has been recently upholstered, circa 1870, in good condition. The ottoman has been recently upholstered in a good quality yellow striped structured satin silk and cotton upholstery, finished with upholstery tassels and matching braiding. The condition of the upholstery is in generally good clean condition and is how we purchased the stool. The walnut box may benefit from being recovered if the yellow upholstery is not to your liking. The seat is well padded, firm, but comfortable - we believe the seat is upholstered with horse-hair stuffing. The hinged lid opens to reveal a spacious storage area, which is lined with neutral floral cotton fabric. The four elegant concaved shaped walls terminated around the original walnut plinth. The underside of the walnut stool retains its original boards and incorporates four elegant turned “bun” feet, which are fitted with good quality brass castors.

...n Report:?The ottoman has been recently upholstered in a good quality yellow striped structured satin silk and cotton upholstery, finished with upholstery tassels. The condition of the upholstery is in general clean useable condition - minor fraying to edges, but nothing significant (this is how we purchased the stool). The ottoman may benefit from being recovered if the yellow upholstery is not to your liking. The seat is well padded, firm, but comfortable - we believe the seat is upholstered with horse-hair stuffing. Therefore, the upholstery material is new and free from damage, rips, and marks. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the walnut moulded frame and upholstery, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The box frame is solid in joint with no loose movements. The steel hinges are in excellent condition and the interior is clean. The Victorian ottoman stands on four good quality turned bun feet, fitted with brass castors. This Victorian box stool is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
