Very good Geo.IV Old Sheffield Plate warming dish; of plain rectangular form with shell pattern feet and handles.
The base is has a plug at the side which can be filled with boiling water, to provide heat to warm the food on the removeable middle section, the top cover also helps keeps the food warm,. These pieces are also known as bacon or cheese dishes as these types of ''flat'' food are best suited to the space provided; eggs, asparagus etc. are also well suited. Really good example, bearing a fine crest
