Description:?This is a fine quality pair of antique 19th century pair of French bedside tables, constructed from mahogany, with a Louis XV design, incorporating the original marble tops, circa 1870, in excellent original condition.
The oak lined hand-dovetailed drawers retain the original brass decorative knobs and close flush to the frame. The cupboard sections below retain the original ceramic internal linings, which is in excellent condition. The cupboard doors are decorated with an applied moulded frame and retains is original brass closure latch and door knobs. The French bedside tables display a decorative escalloped frieze and stand four finely shaped cabriole legs, which feature acanthus leaf carvings at the knees, terminating on scroll toes below.
Condition Report:?The French nightstands have been cleaned and French polished by hand in our workshop to a professional standard. Nominal old use marks to the mahogany frame, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The French bedsides retain their original top quality white marble tops, which are in excellent condition – no chips, cracks or repairs. The internal ceramic cupboards linings and foliate carvings to the knees are intact and in excellent condition. This pair of French bedside tables are well constructed, solid in joint and ready to be used.
