Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency music stools were crafted in Britain between roughly 1810 and 1830, characterized by classical proportions, dark exotic timbers such as rosewood, and decorative brass inlay motifs. They typically incorporated a screw-threaded revolving mechanism to allow height adjustment for musicians.

These stools were primarily constructed from solid or veneered rosewood and mahogany, featuring brass wire or cut-sheet brass inlays. Seats were traditionally upholstered in horsehair, damask, or needlepoint, supported by turned or splayed legs with internal wooden or metal threads.

Authentic Regency examples exhibit fine hand-cut brass inlay set flush into the timber, natural age-related oxidisation of metal components, and heavy solid rosewood or rosewood veneer construction. The height mechanism will typically feature hand-cut threads on a wooden central column or an early cast-iron spindle.

An antique music stool can be positioned alongside a keyboard instrument, integrated into a gentlemans library, or placed in a hallway as an occasional accent seat. Its compact footprint makes it suitable for tight corners or beside reading armchairs.

Keep the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking or fading of the rosewood grain. Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax sparingly, taking care not to snag microfibre cloths on the brass inlay edges.
