Decanter labels, also known as bottle tickets or wine labels, first appeared in England during the mid-18th century to identify the contents of decanters and wine bottles.

Traditional pieces were typically crafted from sterling silver using techniques such as die-stamping, piercing, and hand-engraving, often featuring maker marks and silver hallmarks.

Authentic pieces from the Georgian era generally feature clear struck hallmarks including the makers mark, standard mark, and date letter, along with period-appropriate hand-engraved lettering.

These small collectables can be displayed mounted in shadow boxes, arranged on a silver tray on a bar cart, or incorporated into a dining room tablescape.

Preservation requires minimal cleaning using a soft microfibre cloth and specialized silver polish only when necessary, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can damage the antique surface.
