Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Nouveau silver jewellery boxes, predominant between the 1890s and 1910s, feature sinuous, organic lines, flowing motifs, and stylized female forms. Craftsmen utilized techniques like repousse and chasing to create relief decoration inspired by nature and classical symbolism.

Edwardian silver caskets were typically constructed from sterling silver, hallmarked at 925 purity. The interior was often fitted with silk, velvet, or padded leather linings to protect delicate rings and jewellery from scratching.

Authentic British silver pieces feature a sequence of official hallmarks, including the town mark (such as the Chester sword and sheaves), the lion passant for sterling quality, a date letter, and a registered makers mark stamped into the metal.

An antique silver trinket box works well as a decorative accent on a bedside table, dressing table, or vanity tray. Placing it alongside modern ceramic vessels or glass perfume bottles creates an engaging texture contrast.

Maintain sterling silver by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and using a specialized silver polishing cloth for minor tarnish. Avoid dipping fluids or abrasive creams that can strip light oxidisation details within decorative relief work.
