Georgian glassware, produced during the reigns of the Hanoverian kings from 1714 to 1830, is characterised by heavy lead content, distinctive optical moulding, and various stem formations including air twists, opaque twists, and knops.

These vessels were typically made from lead glass, known for its high refractive index and weight, and were hand-blown using iron pontils with optical mould-blowing techniques to create patterns such as wrythen fluting.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the underside of the base, wear scratches appropriate to their age, minor bubbles or impurities within the metal, and characteristic tactile weight due to the high lead oxide content.

Antique stemware can be displayed within illuminated glass-fronted cabinets, open shelving, or styled on sideboards to introduce historical texture and transparent focal points into contemporary or traditional schemes.

Historic glass should be washed strictly by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes, and dried with a lint-free cloth to protect the delicate surface and prevent mineral staining.
