Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian mahogany furniture is recognised for its lighter proportions compared to Victorian pieces, frequently taking inspiration from eighteenth-century Sheraton and Hepplewhite designs. Features typically include refined satinwood crossbanding, delicate marquetry inlay, and astragal glazed door detailing.

Cabinetmakers primarily utilised solid and veneered mahogany, often highlighted with satinwood, boxwood, or rosewood inlays. Hardware was crafted from cast or stamped brass, while door panels contained hand-cut float glass.

Authentic pieces display precise dovetail drawer joints, original locks, hand-carved pediments, and geometric astragal glazing bars. Stamped marks from established London makers, such as S & H Jewell, on drawer edges or cabinet backboards also confirm authenticity.

Place the piece against neutral or deeply toned walls to highlight the wood grain and satinwood inlay. It functions effectively as a book display in a study or as a china cabinet in a dining room paired with contemporary ceramics.

Position the cabinet away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent wood shrinkage and veneer lift. Dust surfaces regularly with a dry cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually to protect the original finish.
