Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The George III style spans the reign of King George III from 1760 to 1820, encompassing major design movements from early Palladianism and Rococo to Neoclassicism and Regency, characterised by high craftsmanship and the prominent use of imported mahogany.

Authentic pieces from this period were primarily constructed from solid timber and veneers like mahogany or oak, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, traditional mortise and tenon construction, and solid brass hardware.

Authenticity is identified by examining construction details such as hand-cut dovetailing in drawer linings, shrinkage cracks consistent with age, period-appropriate brass handles, and the rich patina of aged timber.

An antique chest provides both practical storage and a strong focal point, pairing well with contemporary minimalist decor to create a layered, collected aesthetic that balances old and new.

Maintain antique mahogany by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, and nourish the wood periodically using traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
