Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. This 20th century Georgian Revival chest of drawers is made from dark brown mahogany with brass hardware. The piece has a curved bow front, a pull-out brushing slide beneath the top, three graduated drawers fitted with swan-neck handles, and short bracket feet. The wood displays a prominent grain pattern across the front surfaces. Measuring 77 cm high, 70 cm wide, and 49 cm deep, the unit fits easily into a bedroom, hallway, or living space to provide compact storage. Its traditional design suits an English Country House interior scheme, where it functions as a bedside table, a small hall chest, or an accent cabinet holding everyday accessories.

FAQs

A bow-front chest of drawers features a convex curved front panel, a design popularised in late 18th-century England during the Hepplewhite and Sheraton eras to soften room lines.

Traditional examples are constructed using solid or veneered mahogany, featuring hand-cut or machine-cut dovetailed drawer joints, cockbeaded drawer edges, and cast brass handles.

Key indicators include drawer lining timber, dovetailed joints, secondary wood species such as pine or oak, and natural wear patterns on the drawer runners.

Dark mahogany pieces contrast well against contemporary neutral wall colours, providing anchor points and visual weight when styled alongside modern lighting and minimalist art.

Regular dusting with a soft lint-free cloth and occasional application of high-quality beeswax protect the timber, while keeping the piece away from direct heat sources prevents cracking.
