Item Reference:

M-7112

.

Dimensions:

Height – 104cm/ Width - 108cm/ Depth - 52cm

.

CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition throughout, with signs of age. The drawers run smoothly and the chest is structurally solid and sound. There is surface wear in places, including age-related marks, scratches and dents, with some loss to the beaded moulding along the sides (pictured). There is also damage and loss to the top moulding, particularly at the rear corners (pictured). The backboards have been replaced with later boards, which does not detract from the overall appeal of the piece. The chest retains a lovely aged patina. Overall, a charming example.

Our carpenter inspects, repairs, and restores our items, so you can have full confidence that what you buy from us is ready for your home! We ask that you take the time to look at all the photos as they form part of the description and condition report of the item.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

A Regency bow-front chest of drawers is a British storage furniture piece dating from the early 19th century, characterized by a convex curved front facade designed to add geometric softness and spatial efficiency to a room.

These chests were predominantly constructed using flame mahogany veneers over solid pine or oak carcases, often featuring brass escutcheons, hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, and turned timber or cast metal handles.

Authentic pieces display hand-sawn timber drawer linings, hand-cut dovetailing, period-appropriate timber shrinkage on back panels, and refined architectural proportions such as splayed bracket feet or a subtly swept apron.

A dark mahogany chest provides structural weight when contrasted against contemporary pale wall tones, modern minimalist lighting, or minimalist artwork within a hallway or bedroom layout.

Preserve the natural timber finish by applying a clear beeswax paste along the grain twice a year, keeping the furniture away from direct heat sources, and maintaining stable indoor humidity levels.
