Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Edwardian tea caddies were luxury containers crafted to store loose tea leaves securely during the early 20th century, often featuring refined decorative motifs reflecting the arts and crafts or neo-classical revivals.

They were predominantly crafted from sterling silver using methods such as stamping, repousse, chasing, and hand-soldering, frequently bearing British hallmarks indicating the assay office and date of manufacture.

Authenticity is verified through clear makers marks, city assay office stamps (such as Sheffield or London), standard purity marks like the lion passant, and date letters corresponding to specific historical years.

It can be placed on a surface such as a mantelpiece, sideboard top, or open shelving to introduce metallic texture, historical depth, and functional elegance into a modern or traditional scheme.

Antique silver should be gently cleaned with a specialised, non-abrasive silver cloth to maintain the patina, stored away from high humidity, and kept free from harsh chemical detergents.
