Rare German Solid Silver Miniature Cherub & Caged Birds Figure Antique

1900 - 1920
Description

A superb rare German antique solid silver miniature figure. It is hallmarked with the German crescent moon and crown mark along with the 800 standard mark and a makers mark of Martin Mayer who was founded in 1888. I would date it to c1900. It has been superbly designed being in the from of a cherub releasing two caged birds. It is in superb condition being free from dings holes and repairs, a couple of splits to the bars to the side. It measures approx. 1.5 inches (4m) across by 1 inch (2.6cm) wide by 1.5 inches (3.6cm) tall and weighs 22 grams. A very nice quality rare piece.
