Nailsea glass refers to glassware manufactured at the glassworks founded in Nailsea, near Bristol, England, operating primarily from 1788 to 1873, known for its distinctive white or coloured loopings.

These items were hand-blown using lead or potash glass, incorporating coloured glass trails or glass shards applied while molten and manipulated with tools to create looped or combed patterns.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit pontil marks on the base, irregular air bubbles within the glass matrix, hand-applied surface loopings, and wear consistent with age on the underside.

These decorative objects can be displayed on mantelpieces or open shelving where natural light highlights the translucent qualities and coloured glass trails.

Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth or lukewarm water with mild soap when necessary, avoiding harsh chemicals, abrasive materials, and direct sunlight to prevent deterioration.
